BVL Engineering is an engineering company, founded by Ben Van Looveren. BVL Engineering aims to be the preferred partner for industrial small and large companies to assist in their projects, both on technical as on management level.

Ben Van Looveren obtained two master's degrees. After studies in Electromechanics & Automation (Industrial Engineer), he pursued a degree in Energy Engineering (Civil Engineer). The different nature of these studies, the former being more practice-oriented and the latter more complex and theoretical, were an ideal mix for Ben. He is able to combine a hands-on mentality with a strong theoretical background to solve a wide range of problems.

Ben started his career at Electrabel-GDF Suez in the Power Plant of Langerlo-Genk. Later, this plant was managed by E.ON. In the 8 years he was active there, he climbed up to the level of Operations Manager. In between, he was Logistics Manager and Deputy Operations Manager.

Being an Operations Manager, he was responsible for the operations department (42 employees), Gross Margin (Sales >100M€) and Production (2.5TWh, 2x235MW thermal coal block and 2x 43MW LM6000PD Gas Turbine). Safety was key in the power station, processes were very lean and the environment continuously changing. Ben built out a career quite fast by combining his technical interest, management qualities, common sense, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit.

BVL Engineering is not Ben's first venture. As a student, he was already an active entrepreneur. After attending many energy and agricultural fairs and visiting numerous biogas plants, he decided to build a biogas installation together with his father, a local farmer. After overcoming the legal hurdles, he found technical and financial partners to realize the project and Agrogas was born.

Agrogas has 4.8MW of installed capacity (3x 1.5MW GE Jenbacher J420 GS + 320kW ORC installation) and delivers 38400 MWh of electricity, serving up to 10,000 households. Agrogas has a turnaround of 7M€ and an EBITDA exceeding 3M€.

Ben Van Looveren is also a city council member in the Municipality of Geel since 2007, a city of 41,000 inhabitants and became a councillor (alderman) in 2016 with civil works, housing, agriculture, public property as major responsibilities.
